Introducing an original M1 helmet liner from the Vietnam War era, dated 1969 and crafted by Westinghouse using a government-leased mold, as evidenced by the U.S. mark in the crown. Despite its age, the liner body, webbing, and metal components remain remarkably well-preserved. However, the exterior paint displays signs of wear and flakiness, a common issue with these liners, adding to its authenticity and serving as a testament to its storied history.
Resisting the urge to restore the paint, I chose to honor its originality instead, adhering to the timeless adage, "They're only original once." This helmet liner is perfect for any collector, whether just starting out or seasoned, adding authenticity to a helmet build that showcases light field use or enhancing a reenactment impression. Please note that the headband and neckband are not included but can be purchased separately.
