These postwar M1 helmet liners date back to the mid 1960s, making them compatible to rebuild into any Vietnam War liner, either Type I or II depending on your desire. However, they’re far from mint and require significant work—expect issues like mushy rims, rivet blowouts, cracks, chips, punctures, rotten webbing and discoloration.
Are they garbage? No. But they’re definitely not for beginners. You’ll need solid restoration experience and plenty of patience to tackle these.
Why aren’t we restoring them ourselves?
We already are—just not these specific ones. This batch is beyond what we can handle quickly without driving up costs. However, for those not bound by production restraints, these rough liners can be a fun challenge to bring back to life at your own pace.
