U.S. WWII paratrooper helmet with chinstrap. Choose from two options, the mid or late war version. For the mid war we use a front seamed* helmet with a swivel chinstrap loop. The chinstraps are od3 (khaki) in color. The late war version we build using a rear seamed* helmet with chinstraps that are od7 (dark green).
To re-create these, we use original U.S. M1 helmets from WWII. These are usually found as army surplus. The current lot of helmets we restore were found in New Mexico. Surplussed from a large base near Albuquerque.
*Front seam, Rear seam? The helmet edge is finished with a metal trim. This trim forms a joint either in the front or the rear of the helmet. This distinction is used by helmet enthusiasts to determine the period in which a helmet was manufactured. Front seams '42-'44. Rear seams '44-'45.
We build helmets when ordered. We need up to 10 business days to build your helmet. Plan accordingly.
