Original WWII M1 helmet and liner. McCord Radiator fixbail with Inland liner. Complete with all components. Very good used condition. Helmet has fixed chinstrap loops with front seamed rim. Stamped 363B. Original chin strap* made of od3 webbing with early raised bar buckle, J hook and endkeeper. Helmet is used with no cracks or dents. Original paint with cork texture is well worn and smoothed off in spots with discoloration throughout. The interior paint is good with some black and rust brown paint overspray. The liner, manufactured by Inland, has single weave od3 webbing secured with parkerized steel -A- washers. Torn webbing was field repaired with a heavy black thread. Exterior looks great with smooth dark od paint and no damage to mention. Leather chinstrap has brass fittings. It is in great shape. Headband was made by George Frost Co. and features olive drab spring clips and buckle. Neckband markings are too faint to be read. It has parkerized steel snaps.
This is a fine example of an early fixbail M1 helmet that was issued and shows use. The hard to find Inland liner, even with the repairs is a nice bonus! Would be impressive in any budding or advanced collection.
*This helmet had no chin strap present. We installed these original straps with a high quality fabric glue and clamps which allowed us to preserve the original stitching.
