Original USMC Helmet Cover – WWII Production, Vietnam War Use

This is a genuine WWII-produced USMC helmet cover that later saw use during the Vietnam War. It was manufactured without buttonholes, a wartime adaptation that allowed for faster production to meet demand.

The cover is in very good used condition, with a green-dominant tone, vibrant color, and a clean overall appearance. The helmet crease is visible from where it was nested between the helmet and liner, but its structure remains solid.

A notable feature of this cover is the solid black ink Eagle, Globe, and Anchor (EGA) stamp, which aligns with Vietnam War use. Additionally, it has handwritten graffiti, seemingly marking down the days left in a tour, along with a mention of Detroit—a personal touch that adds to its history.

The only modifications are slits cut by the original soldier for passing the helmet chinstraps through, along with additional improvised foliage slits—a common field adaptation, as this version was originally produced without them.

This cover is an excellent choice for collectors, reenactors, or those seeking an original WWII-manufactured USMC helmet cover with documented Vietnam War use.
