WWII M1 helmet liner. Made by Inland. Johnson & Johnson web cradle with steel -A- washers and brass neckband support snaps. Webbing "looks great" but the rust on the hardware where contact is made has weakened it. I would suggest adding the headband carefully and reserving this liner for display. The liner's body is excellent, no defects to mention. Capt Rank is hand painted while the 5th Army is a decal. The headband, neckband and leather chinstrap are not present. Insignia decals were not prominent in theatre during WWII. Decals were being used stateside later in the war. Given that the 5th Army saw much of their action in the Mediterranean, it is my feeling the markings are postwar. Regardless, this is an outstanding Inland helmet liner and would make a great addition to a collection.
