Original Vietnam War M1 helmet liners available in restorable condition. Approximately two years ago, I acquired a batch of helmet liners from Colorado, consisting of postwar, WWII, and Korean era liners. From this collection, I secured a surplus of Vietnam War liners for experimentation.

Recently brought out of storage, we've been restoring these as well as exploring creative projects, as seen in the last two photos—a nod to the early WWII St. Clair helmet liner are built from these. It's time to introduce these Vietnam War liners into our product line, responding to the growing interest in headgear from that era and giving you an opportunity to get creative!

What you get:

  • Original Vietnam War M1 helmet liner.
  • Nylon and plastic type introduced in 1964, manufactured through 1974.
  • All Type I (infantry) with -A- washers securing the web cradle.
  • Project grade.

What they need:

  • Complete restoration
  • Type I (infantry) or Type II (airborne) web kits
  • Headbands
  • Neckbands

What I think: Are they too far gone? Can they be restored? Yes. If you really want to, you can drop them in a helmet and be done with it. But, if you like to get your hands into a project and challenge yourself, these are perfect for that. As you can see above, we've been actively growing our postwar helmet parts inventory. Remember, these need love and a thorough going over, so if you're not inclined, pass these over. For those of you who look for this sort of thing, I'm curious to see what you do with them and what you can find! If you're searching for parts and pieces and I'm doing the same, someone is bound to turn up a box or two of hidden away NOS parts. Then, we can get into some serious restorative action!
